Is Microsoft's Plundering of Africa Coming to an End?
He's probably thinking about Jim Zemlin, who works for his idol Bill Gates...
The Linux Foundation does not give a damn about Africans (no money in it!), but should the rest of us - as in people who actually use GNU/Linux, unlike the Linux Foundation - really care?
Yes, as a community we stand to gain a lot from it. No, not financially. Then again, Free software isn't about greed; it's about sharing, not hoarding. It's not about exercising control over other people. It strives to achieve the exact opposite.
Looking at Web statistics from Africa (what statCounter spies on), this year Windows is down from 71% to just 63% (GNU/Linux up half a percent) or from 18% to less than 15% if counting mobile too. At this pace, within 2-3 years Microsoft will be left with very little.
Microsoft had many layoffs in Africa this year. █
