statCounter: Microsoft Windows Down a Percent This Year in South America, GNU/Linux Up to 3.2%
Microsoft down, freedom up
Windows down 9% this year if one counts mobile too:
2024 was a good year for adoption of GNU/Linux as a freedom-respecting platform (i.e. not something like ChromeOS, oppressing users on so-called "Chromebooks", i.e. laptops owned and controlled remotely by Alphabet Agency).
Today or this morning we take stock of what happened in South America. We'll cover other areas (or continents) later today and this week.
This year Microsoft fell two places in the Drucker "company rankings". It turns out that losing tens of billions of dollars to sell some keycap that says "copilot" (while getting sued a lot for copyright infringement) isn't a viable business plan.
The FSF has struck back this year and it raised a lot of money when it said Microsoft was the principal problem. █
