[Meme] Swallow Microsoft GitHub
Context: What Would Dennis Ritchie Say About the "Memory-Safe" Hype (or Cargo Cult)?
Rust has outsourced almost everything (not just code but also communications and beyond) to proprietary platforms, mostly Microsoft's. They say they value security, but Rust itself (not programs built with Rust) routinely has security flaws; some are severe.
We need to abandon (or turn down the volume on) that annoying preaching of Microsoft GitHub fans (typically people who conflate Git with a user/Web interface and cannot distinguish between E-mail and Web pages sent as 'E-mail' because Git workflows are "hard"). They're insincere. Many of them are looking to justify ignorance, or folks who try to tell us that "security" means taking all our code from the foremost partner of the NSA (also remember security at Microsoft GitHub is managed by a 20-year NSA veteran, i.e. a back doors person).
The same notorious agencies [1, 2, 3, 4] that demand back doors in everything (a.k.a. "responsible" encryption*) tell us to adopt Rust; how's that for a badge of endorsement? It seems more like a supply chain attack with Microsoft/NSA in the middle. █
_______
* It means encryption that does not actually work. It means crackable encryption or 'encryption' with scare quotes.
