After Shutting Down Studios, Divisions, Applications (e.g. Skype) Microsoft is Also Shutting Down 'Apps'
Cuts all around as layoffs persist this month, Microsoft tries to get many people to resign, and debt skyrockets (they try to silence people about this)
A reader has just alerted us that Neowin, a Microsoft- and Windows-centric site, confirmed the shutdown of an app despite it being popular. Microsoft reckons it cannot make money out of it. So it must go.
What next? GitHub shutdowns again? It's getting harder for Microsoft to rationalise doing things which only lose money, hence Skype is dead. At some stage even lenders will refuse to lend any more money, no matter what Microsoft claims to be "worth". █
"Microsoft, the world’s most valuable company, declared a profit of $4.5 billion in 1998; when the cost of options awarded that year, plus the change in the value of outstanding options, is deducted, the firm made a loss of $18 billion, according to Smithers."
