The Register MS Has Apparently Shut Down Its Office
A few weeks ago the company behind The Register MS filed its annual confirmation statement - one of the least interesting documents one deposits at Companies House. This one is a "[c]onfirmation statement made on 15 July 2025 with no updates" (i.e. no changes).
A more interesting update/document was deposited last August: "Registered office address changed from Unit 1, 14 Portland Street Southport Merseyside PR8 1LJ to 27 Old Gloucester St Holborn London WC1N 3AX on 8 August 2024".
Those who followed our coverage of Sirius Open Source may still remember what led to my resignation - the last straw. A day or two after the company changed the address to that of its accountant's - something that I deemed a very dodgy move - I persisted and insisted on talking to the CEO. After being evasive, repeatedly, I finally got him on the phone and argued with him for almost an hour (more like 40 minutes, probably a little more if I recall correctly). We discussed the address change - he was surprised that I noticed this - and insisted it was none of my business. I resigned weeks later, he resigned a few months later (around the time it became crystal clear the company had defrauded its own staff!) and in the process I learned a lot about this practice of address change to a virtual address - apparently not illegal but definitely the hallmark of something being wrong/rogue.
Going by Google Maps, which can be helpful for those sorts of things, this is where The Register MS is now based:
But wait, we can find out what's inside those buildings. Aside from this dissolved company (2017) lo and behold:
It is basically a fake address on the face of it. The Register MS probably shut down its office amid financial problems. █
