Slopwatch: LinuxSecurity, UbuntuPIT, and Google News
So Slopwatch is a bit slower this evening, as we did not find many new examples. The Serial Slopper Brian hasn't touched "Linux" in a while, but this other slopfarm, LinuxSecurity, did:
Just some negative headline and a fake article with LLM slop. It's the typical SEO cruft.
We've also just noticed more slop from UbuntuPIT. We've also checked with scanners.
It does seem like the editor of UbuntuPIT now tries harder to disguise the use of LLMs, but we already caught some examples:
- Slopwatch: UbuntuPIT Joins the Slopfarms Club
- UbuntuPIT Became a Slopfarm and Gnoppix Tarnishes Its Own Brand With Slop
Over at Google News, which does a poor job distinguishing between real news and LLM slop (Google itself contributes to slop, so it's part of the problem), we've incredibly enough not seen any new example of slop in the area of "Linux". Maybe luck? Maybe Google is tightening its indices a little? Time will tell. █
