Slop Boosters and 'Hype Agents' Render Themselves Irrelevant and the General Public Becomes Incredulous Due to "Bros Who Cry Wolf!"
This past weekend I put aside the obsolete Schneier book and used it as my wife's laptop "brick" (for elevation). I had made it through the first 81 pages and the latter ~30 I only read hastily, as I was losing interest in the slop hype - all in relation to political processes.
The book is the latest from him (now sold at a discount), but it is not exactly new and I don't think it aged well (they came up with this concept during "peak hype"). I keep saying my reading process will be finished after the slop bubble pops. A year ago we got told that many politicians will (or would) use slop to write laws; I hardly see this anymore, as they too know it can draw lots of criticism, backlash etc.
Peak slop (hype) is definitely behind us and public opinion shifted profoundly. Not many people will believe (any longer!) the lie about layoffs happening because of "HEY HI" (slop) rather than due to a generally bad economy, violent conflicts, tariffs, resources scarcity etc.
Nowadays if I see "AI" mentioned in some article - in a headline in particular - I'm very likely to immediately skip it because it implies that the author has poor grasp of what's happening or is being paid to participate in the hype. █
