Microsoft Staff Bracing for Impact Ahead of "Layoffs Lottery"
Last week: The "Official" Numbers That Say "Microsoft Layoffs" Will be Misleading

Which pill will you bite?
Today's "zeitgeist" when it comes to Microsoft layoffs is mostly the price hikes (a symptom of the issues!). Things are getting more expensive at Apple and at Microsoft (XBox for instance), so news from earlier this week still reverberates. However, some people start to assess who will get culled next, knowing that likely unprecedented (in terms of their scale) layoffs are about to kick off (some already have).
This new comment points out HR is the enemy of staff at Microsoft: "Gathering information that may be useful for future resumes and ensuring you have personal contact information for referrals before any separation is a must. Employees should also retain copies of performance reviews, awards, and other documentation of their accomplishments as these records may be helpful for future employment opportunities or legal review by outside counsel, if needed. Seeking guidance from HR is a no go. HR's responsibility is to represent and protect the interests of the company, not the employees. Being labeled a problem by HR places a target on your back."
This comes after many reports (about a dozen citing one original article) about retaliation against staff taking shape in layoffs form.
How will Microsoft spin the "bloodbath" (what insiders generally call it)? █
