Digitalisation Is Not Inevitable or Unavoidable
Nor inescapable
Many people in the world live without electricity.
They never had electricity.
Many people who do have electricity do not rely on it for computers or Internet access. Communication can be done in all sorts of ways.
Utopia is defined by the ends, not the means, and if a lot of modern [sic] technology facilitates good but also harms, then it may not be Utopian.
With or without electricity, human civilisation has existed about 1,000 times longer than the the time since the Industrial Revolution (to present).
Trying to impose on everybody what we deem "cool" or "advanced" is arrogant and subjective.
Medicine existed for a lot longer than electricity. Wellbeing does not depend on technology and in many cases wellbeing can be harmed by technology (stress, obesity, radiation, and pollution for instance).
People who are immersed (professionally) in technology don't need to "signal" or "brag" to others that they're "good at technology" by taking some skinnerbox everywhere they go. They don't need the latest "i" thing (with a screen that cracks quickly) and they don't stare at 5-inch screens to "take stock" of the latest "like" or Net gossip.
At the end of the day technology is a tool. It can be used for good. It also gets used quite a lot for bad, as increasingly sinister people control technology. They're control freaks.
Once we can all agree that a lot of prevalent technology is controlled and governed by people or entities whose agenda is hostile to our interests we'll understand that getting away from technology is a virtue, maybe a "privilege".
I still have physical notebooks with many handwritten notes on them. There are no backups on "the cloud" and I don't need to recharge the battery on those. They don't need repairs or upgrades. █
