Now that they are partners, apparently Novell sees no reason to compete with Microsoft's Exchange, and has pulled support for the HULA project:

There have been questions recently about the status of the Hula project, and I apologize for the silence while things have been sorted out on Novell's end.

The quick synopsis is, Novell no longer has anyone working full-time on Hula...

I believe GroupWise is the product that directly competes with Microsoft Exchange, not Hula.

Please look into Novell's entire product line before posting such FUD.

Novell has axed support for the Hula open source collaboration suite for email, calendaring and contact lists.

The company decided to pull its developers off the project because the software lacks opportunities in the market. --- I don't profess to be an expert on the Novell product line, or the Microsoft one for that matter, but email calendaring and contact lists sounds alot like exchange. Thank you for the clarification.
