TI is offering Linux camera application source code and free codecs with two new IP camera reference designs based on its RISC/DSP SoCs. The Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) model handles widely variable lighting, while a Video Content Analytics (VCA) model targets video analytics processing applications.
Sony used Linux to build an IP set-top box (STB) that connects to its Bravia HDTVs, enabling them to display a regularly updated selection of Internet videos. Sony's DMX-NV1 Bravia Internet Video Link is equipped with Ethernet, HDMI, and proprietary USB-based DMeX connections.
I wonder why Pardus is such an unknown distribution. It is easy to install, has a great configuration center, and a good package management system with plenty of packages to fulfill most peoples needs. The people behind Pardus have spent a lot of time to create a distro that looks good and is stable. I believe my granny can work with Pardus without problems. No messing with config-files in any way, just install it and start working with it. I will continue to use Pardus and have advised others to give it a try.
Good job, Pardus team!
PCLinuxOS, the hottest Linux distribution of 2007 have gone quiet for more than a year now. At the moment, a lot of PCLOS followers are probably anxiously waiting for their favorite distro's 2008 version (if there is any). --There's no definite release schedule, so we are left guessing.
Where’s the FUD? For years, Windows zealots have denounced Linux for being arcane, hard-to-use, and backward. Heavy reliance on the CLI for administration was cited as a failure to progress (through obstinacy, ignorance or both). Now, it appears that Microsoft is admitting that a powerful shell is indeed useful, forcing its fanboys to dine on crow tartare.
Yet again, I butted up against the supposed ease of installation and configuration of Windows (in this case, XP). I passed a ThinkPad T40 on to a friend of mine and, because he’s all thumbs when it comes to computers (except for using certain software), I offered to help him install XP.
Mepis is has a long history compared to new distributions. This is a distribution that is based on Debian, supplying the KDE Desktop Environment. This distribution is friendly and easy to use. Mepis supplies all the positives of Debian providing a friendly and elegant system.
The agenda for the 2008 kernel summit has been posted. The summit is an annual, invitation-only event which is typically attended by 70-80 developers. It is a rare opportunity to bring part of the kernel community together for focused discussions on topics which affect the kernel as a whole.

Where does it say in the 'open source' cookbook that you can't link to proprietary 'products' ?
