Summary: Today we take another look at assessments of the breadth of Geminispace, seeing that Lupa has found a 1,750th active (online) capsule, compared to a total of 519 active capsules just a year ago

THIS morning I was greeted by this milestone which said: "There are 2126 capsules. We successfully connected recently to 1750 of them." It was just 1,600 active ones back in January 16th, so we're talking about almost 5 in net gain per say (like 1 going offline, 6 going online). This is charted here, as shown in the video above.

"Over time more and more "content" -- even very good "content" -- becomes available over Geminispace. A little effort might be required to find it and we'll try to habitually write articles with videos, introducing some capsules which deserve recognition."This week we serve about 1,000 pages per hour over gemini://, but bots are the majority of this traffic. In the video I put forth the theory that it's due to so many programmers being the early adopters of Gemini protocol. There's a lot of automation, e.g. this Guardian scraper amongst others. Over time more and more "content" -- even very good "content" -- becomes available over Geminispace. A little effort might be required to find it and we'll try to habitually write articles with videos, introducing some capsules which deserve recognition.
