EPO Ignoring the Rules
Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative Works 4.0
Summary: Having just published a bunch of internal documents, I now express some personal opinions and concerns about the status quo
THE latest posts concerning the EPO merit some personal comments. By now, many EPO workers recognise that Benoît Battistelli is still in charge, he just swapped a 'faceplate' so to speak (António Campinos looks rather different but behaves similarly; they both have temper issues, they're incidentally both French, and they cannot accept that they might be wrong, rendering themselves unfit to lead).
Staff representatives are being completely ignored (the input gets discarded), labour regulations are are ignored, and EPC provisions regarding quality of examiners and examination also get completely ignored. The guidelines are being revised to make these violations "acceptance" or "the new normal" (e.g.
software patents are now considered "Hey Hi" and "4IR").
