The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

newsgroup creation RFD - draft
I think it might be time to go for a set of newsgroups. I would keep
debian-devel and debian-private on mailing lists, but possibly move the
server (if we can't find Anders). Here is a draft RFD. Discussion please?
Is there anyone willing to mange the passage of this through the newsgroup
creation process, so that I don't have to do it?
Thanks
Bruce

This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) for the reorganization of
three large Debian mailing lists into newsgroups. This is not a Call
for Votes (CFV); you cannot vote at this time. Procedural details are
below.
CHANGES from previous RFD:
This is the initial RFD.
Newsgroup lines:
comp.os.linux.debian.announce Debian GNU/Linux Announcements.
comp.os.linux.debian.install Installing the Debian system.
comp.os.linux.debian.nontech Debian non-technical discussion.
comp.os.linux.debian.tech Debian technical discussion.
comp.os.linux.debian.changes Changes in Debian software packages.
RATIONALE: all groups
To introduce ourselves, Debian GNU/Linux is a completely free Linux
distribution produced by the non-profit organization "Software in the
Public Interest". To learn about Debian, check out our web page
http://www.debian.org/ .
RATIONALE: comp.os.linux.debian.announce
This newsgroup contains announcements of global-level changes in the
Debian GNU/Linux system such as a new system release, and other
important announcements such as security alerts. This replaces the
mailing list debian-announce@lists.debian.org . That mailing list
currently is gatewayed into the linux.* hierarchy, and has over 1000
direct subscribers. This newsgroup is manually moderated by
debian-announce@debian.org .
RATIONALE: comp.os.linux.debian.install
This newsgroup contains discussion and peer support by people
installing the Debian linux system. This replaces one function of the
mailing list debian-user@lists.debian.org, which currently is
gatewayed into the linux.* hierarchy and has over 1000 direct
subscribers. This newsgroup is auto-moderated by
debian-install@debian.org .
RATIONALE: comp.os.linux.debian.nontech
This newsgroup contains discussion by non-technical users of the
Debian GNU/Linux system. The non-technical users have asked for this
group because they are intimidated by the high level of technical
discussion we sometimes reach in the debian-user mailing list, and do
not want to post questions in a group where they will seem like
clueless newbies. This newsgroup replaces one function of the
debian-user@lists.debian.org mailing list, which is currently
gatewayed to the linux.* hierarchy and has over 1000 direct
subscribers. This newsgroup is auto-moderated by
debian-nontech@debian.org .
RATIONALE: comp.os.linux.debian.tech
This newsgroup contains technical discussion of the Debian GNU/Linux
system. This replaces another function of the debian-user mailing
list. This newsgroup replaces one function of the
debian-user@lists.debian.org mailing list, which is currently
gatewayed to the linux.* hierarchy and has over 1000 direct
subscribers. This newsgroup is auto-moderated by
debian-tech@debian.org, and accepts postings only from Debian
developers.
RATIONALE: comp.os.linux.debian.changes
This newsgroup contains announcements of changes in Debian packages,
and the availability of those packages for downloading.
This replaces the debian-changes mailing list, which is currently
gatewayed to the linux.* hierarchy and has over 1000 direct
subscribers. This newsgroup is auto-moderated by
debian-changes@debian.org .
.
CHARTER: comp.os.linux.debian.announce
Announcements of global importance to users of the Debian GNU/Linux system.
This includes releases of new systems and security alerts.
Moderation policies:
Moderators accept major announcements from Debian developers, security
alerts, and other material that is deemed to be of global importance to
Debian users. Commercial announcements from sellers of Debian CDs are
digested into a "commercial" posting to appear no more often than twice
monthly. No other commercial material is posted.
END CHARTER.
CHARTER: comp.os.linux.debian.install
For discussion of installation of the Debian system only.
No commercial or off-topic traffic is allowed.
Moderation policies:
Moderation is automatic with the sole purpose of rejecting traffic from
known abusers.
END CHARTER.
CHARTER: comp.os.linux.debian.nontech
For discussion at a low technical level by users of the Debian GNU/Linux
system. No commercial or off-topic traffic is allowed.
Moderation policies:
Moderation is automatic with the sole purpose of rejecting traffic from
known abusers.
END CHARTER.
CHARTER: comp.os.linux.debian.tech
For discussion at a high technical level by users of the Debian GNU/Linux
system. No commercial or off-topic traffic is allowed.
Moderation policies:
Moderation is automatic with the sole purpose of rejecting traffic from
known abusers.
END CHARTER.
CHARTER: comp.os.linux.debian.changes
This newsgroup carries automaticaly-generated messages that are released
when new Debian packages are uploaded to our FTP site. The typical message
has a subject line like "Subject: 97 new i386 packages", and a body
describing the name and version number of each new package, the
changes made since the last release of those packages, and for new packages
the description of the purpose of the package.
Moderation policies:
Only the moderator may post. This is generally the output of an automatic
program.
END CHARTER.

PROCEDURE:
This is a request for discussion, not a call for votes. In this
phase of the process, any potential problems with the proposed
newsgroups should be raised and resolved. The discussion period will
continue for a minimum of 21 days (starting from when the first RFD
for this proposal is posted to news.announce.newgroups), after which
a Call For Votes (CFV) will be posted by a neutral vote taker.
Please do not attempt to vote until this happens.
All discussion of this proposal should be posted to news.groups.
This RFD attempts to comply fully with the Usenet newsgroup creation
guidelines outlined in "How to Create a New Usenet Newsgroup" and
"How to Format and Submit a New Group Proposal". Please refer to
these documents (available in news.announce.newgroups) if you have
any questions about the process.
DISTRIBUTION:
This RFD has been posted to the following newsgroups:
news.announce.newgroups, news.groups, comp.os.linux.announce
and the following mailing list:
