Bonum Certa Men Certa

No, Bristows, UPC Won't Happen Just Because You Mislead About It

Bristows LLP and EPO

Summary: The latest attempt to float a perception of progress and optimism, even though the UPC is in a limbo and everyone knows it except those who lie to themselves about it (and hope we too will fall for these lies)

NO FIRM misleads about the UPC as much as Bristows, which together with EPO management forms an alliance of convenient lies, possibly even fabrications. It becomes ever more serious if not severe enough to count as an offense when bogus job advertisements are put up ('openings' about jobs that don't exist and may never exist at all).

"It becomes ever more serious if not severe enough to count as an offense when bogus job advertisements are put up (openings that jobs that don't exist and may never exist at all)."Just before Easter, i.e. a few days ago, Bristows wrote about the latest attempts to get around barriers, knowing that the UPC is fundamentally incompatible with Brexit and according to this new Juve report, the British government is indeed reluctant to ratify.

The other day we found this new comment which is rather revealing; they make things up as they go along.

The two orders on the Protocol on Privileges and Immunities are yet to be presented to the Westminster and Scottish Parliaments.

Although in theory these orders do not have to be passed for the UK to ratify the UPC Agreement, the lack of progress implies an increasingly tight timetable to those not accustomed to the "flexible" approach to constitutional matters "enjoyed" in the UK.

Despite public protestation that the ratification will take place, continued delay is not good PR for the UK and fingers need to be extracted. At present the UK gives every appearance of having their thumb up their bum and their brain in neutral.

Let us hope that after the Easter recess our legislators will be reinvigorated into something resembling action.

Lacking any good news (or fake news) to spread, Bristows turns to east Europe and attempts to milk Latvia for the perception of progress. Remember that Battistelli secretly went to lobby Latvia only weeks ago (the EPO mentioned it only after we had exposed this secrecy).

"The UPC is a coup, just like the EPO coup."All in all, it's mostly mischief and stunts from Team UPC, Team Battistelli and those whom they try to bamboozle into ratifying something that nobody needs or wants. The UPC is a coup, just like the EPO coup. Its purpose it to empower few individuals at the expense of everyone else.
