CNX Software ☛ M.2 10GbE network card sells for $86
Almost two years ago, we wrote it was possible to add 10GbE to your system with a M.2 network card based on a Marvell AQC113 chip for about $170. But I’ve now been made aware prices may have come down a lot as another M.2 10GbE network based on the Marvell AQC107 chipset is now selling for $86 including shipping (to Thailand). Just like the previous model, the M.2 card does not include an RJ45 port, instead, it’s included in a separate board that’s mountable to a standard PC plate and connected through a flat cable to the M.2 module.

TD Bank to Cut 3% of Workforce
Toronto-Dominion Bank, Canada’s second-largest lender, has reportedly undertaken a restructuring plan that includes a 3% reduction in its workforce.
The job cuts will be implemented through attrition as well as targeted reductions, with over 3,000 positions expected to be affected, Bloomberg reported Thursday (Nov. 30).
Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD Bank) took a C$266 million (about $195 million) after-tax restructuring charge in the fiscal fourth quarter to cover the costs associated with these staff reductions and a reduction in office space, according to the report.
The restructuring will generate C$400 million in savings for the current fiscal year and C$600 million annually, the report said.

I’m not sure Elon quite understands the concept of “damage control.” Advertisers are bailing, and the rate increases every time he says something stupid or endorses this or that conspiracy theory. It’s costing the company tons of money, but he still can’t admit that he’s the problem. So, instead, he’s blaming everyone else. And sometimes suing organizations for daring to point out what a mess he’s made.

Anna Wolters-Höhne is joining Allen & Overy. Previously, she worked at Bird & Bird for almost 17 years, focusing on life sciences disputes in Düsseldorf and Hamburg. Dennis Crouch/Patently-O ☛ Jepson Claims
The chart above presents the powerful trend in the use of Jepson claim language in US patents over the years. It shows a clear decline in the percentage of patents that include Jepson claim language from 1980 to the present. In the early 1980s, around 8% of patents included at least one claim in Jepson format. That figure has steadily decreased over the decades, falling to near 0% in recent years.

Ah, snow...
It's the time of the year I'm already looking forward to spring. As much as I like the snowy scenery in front of my home, my shoulder really is starting to take a toll due to the amount of snow I need to get off the pathway and my car. Suddenly sliding across the street in an unplanned attempt to practice my non-existent ice-skating skills without ice-skates sure is a way to start each day, as well.

The young(er) and the spiritually restless
First of all, some hilarity (well, from my point of view, anyway..)... I once lived in so-called "upstate New York", so I occasionally heard of the village of "Briarcliff Manor"... and so when I read "Briar Cliff" I immediately wondered if it were in that locale... but of course - per the school's website - it clearly isn't.
But, furthermore, I'd misremembered "Briarcliff Manor" as merely "Briar Cliff" (i.e. as though *that* were the name of the town/village)... so I searched on "briar cliff new york" in Google Maps, which brought me to the locale I was thinking of... but while innocently looking around the vicinity I suddenly saw the words "Trump National Golf Club Westchester"... heh... I dunno, it just seemed like yet another "there's no escaping Trump".... :-)

Wine Gums, Ranked
They're all very delicious, but let's not pretend we like them all equally.
The green ones don't live up to the same standard as the others. Even the orange and yellow ones, in that order, are better. Next comes the white(ish) ones. The orange, yellow, and white are all the middle of the pack. They're clearly better than the green, but quite close to each other in rank.

We can talk and listen
My times weren't, probably, your times. 1975, November the 20th, General Francisco Franco Bahamonde died, leaving a young inexperienced king at the helm, one expected to pass briefly into oblivion. Spain was, of course, doomed to yet another period of strife, perhaps into a civil war. We lost one million people in the last one, in 3 years of conflict limited to a single, medium sized nation.
And yet, what it transpired is that people wanted Peace and Freedom, in that precise order. Our teachers didn't know what democracy was or could be. In any case, we Spaniards were a lost cause for democracy, too unruly. So what were the chances that could work.
