Windows Has Fallen to 13% Market Share in Iraq (It was 100% Just 15 Years Ago), GNU/Linux Rose Sharply in Recent Years
Two decades ago Western countries ruined Iraq for the sins of (mostly) Saudis who had hijacked American airplanes and crashed these into buildings in the United States.
In recent years Iraq was developing its own GNU/Linux distro and people there seem to be using many mobile devices - to the point where among Web-connected clients Android is measured at 65% this month.
Windows fell to 13%. It used to be at 99.5% - that's about as high as it can go.
Microsoft's Windows revenue is collapsing (Microsoft isn't even denying it anymore) and more Iraqis explore alternatives to it. GNU/Linux is apparently at over 5% on laptops/desktops, as noted earlier in the sister site.
Iraq will never be the same again (it used to boast many world "firsts"), but perhaps it can find freedom through computing that's not remotely controlled by the US government via Apple and Microsoft. █
