I'm not paid enough to be the villain
You know, I had a whole huge post of venting and wailing in mind (as I sit here having to had to get two people to leave and I'm not even a third through this hellshift) but I just can't. I don't have the energy or the anything.
I'll just say that I am not paid enough to be the villain and make people with nowhere else to go leave my workplace --

My Vodka teir list
I've been trying different Vodka brands for a while now and I've come up with a teir list of my favorites. My perference for Vodka is that it should be smooth and not have a strong taste what so ever. I drink Vodka straight and use it as fuel for writing stupid code that is too hard for me usually.

FOSS — still great
All of proprietary software is one big scam. It’s only thanks to FOSS that we even can catch some of the other scams people are trying to pull, like the recent SSH exploit.
Xckd 2347 is a li’l misleading because the situation is worse than that. There is not just one point of failure. There are many. A lot of stuff goes down if any one of those many long-suffering maintainers folds. That’s what it means to work on stuff together, outside of the boss system of payrolls and punch clocks. Somehow this weird li’l anthill of ten thousand straws is still standing.
The situation is worse, and better. Because you are not alone. This is how we do things. We see something messed up and we fix it and we realize that others could benefit from the fix so we share it.

Plasma 6 and me
I'm bit late to the train of Plasma 6 related posts... But anyway. I will go through some things I did.
For me working on Plasma 6 was pretty fun, I learned a lot of new things and fixed bunch of bugs and crashes.
The most resourceful ones can find my merge requests, but I am too lazy to link them all.

Attack Surface
"Attack surface" is how much surface area something presents to attackers, on the notion that more surface to attack means more ways to get in. Software to be fair does not have a surface, but it does get attacked, so software that can be attacked in many different ways is characterized by something that makes it attackable. Bloat, perhaps, but bloat does not exist. The absence of not-bloat aside, there tends to be a lot of code and dependencies in software that has a large attack surface.

Oxymoronist: Disinformation Primer
The TikTok ban, or whatever it turns into, might not cause much concern among the text reading population. Apparently popular among young generations, it has provided alternative glimpses into the situation in Gaza, which is presumably a reason why some people would rather shut it down asap. Advertisers are now being dissuaded from throwing their money at independent media, as per an article by Alan MacLeod. A report "calls for regulating video games and online message boards, steering individuals away from alternative media and back towards more elite-friendly sites," all in the name of fighting disinformation. Not much new in the article, but a useful summary.
