On Julian Assange, Now 5 Years in Belmarsh Prison: The Good News, the Bad News, and Ugly Noise
Video: Stella Assange's message published today (Thursday)
TODAY'S big (and good) news is, reports about Biden considering an end to the Assange case are formally echoed by the "official" (sadly in Twitter) Wikileaks account, unlike rumour-mongering by Murdoch-owned press, alleging "plea bargain" had been in the cards. Assange's wife released this 2-minute video just 20 minutes ago (her channel is 'criminally' under-subscribed, but she made the mistake of using a censorship and shadow-banning machine called YouTube).
The bad news is, today we discovered that Cory Doctorow barely writes for the EFF anymore (only two articles this year). We discussed (in our IRC network) how someone who attacks Wikileaks took charge of 'free speech' at the EFF (for a huge salary) and how the EFF basically failed to fulfil or meet expectations. It often undermines its own goals. Without Doctorow, the EFF would be pointless if not worthless on most issues. It can distract from grassroots, due to its magnitude. It's becoming like "controlled opposition", funded by those whom it was meant to guard us from.
The EFF has not even mentioned Assange since 2021 (i.e. 3 years ago, e.g. here or the search results). It is tragic because the EFF's cofounder and former leader, who only died years ago, had co-founded a group with Assange. Its purpose was to protect the press.
Remember what today's EFF is or who (of what) it fronts for.
Efforts to isolate Assange from colleagues and supporters are nothing new.
Some time this spring (or summer) we'll revisit the Appelbaum case. We'll also explain what his main accuser is - basically a very promiscuous girl who has several Microsoft connections and who worked to undermine the EFF. The evidence is in formal court documents, not hearsay. █
