I'm not dead I just feel that way
With stuff like the hole in my bathroom ceiling half the size of me, and several online acquaintances having crises of everything, and just general malaise at the entire universe (have you seen the rest of the universe lately?) ...

anthology of accumulated short notes
maybe some day I'll go back to spending more than 5 minutes writing about the same thing -.-

Why are you doing this? Why are you here?
You could ask this question in the title regarding any kind of online platform or forum etc. where you are active, any association/club, any NGO, any company, any project... why are you doing this? Why are you here?
It is about the exchange, of thoughts, ideas, feelings, of adventures/experiences, of insights. Maybe also a bit about coping with trauma, ego, other mental health issues etc.
All of this, can be said, is energy and so your engagement on online platforms, associations etc. is an exchange of energy. (So, ultimately, life is an ongoing exchange of energies.)

Acronymification
So one may observe a Power Organizing Module (POM) and a European Service Module (ESM) among other such TLA and may be left wondering what, exactly, a ESM or a POM actually is and does—a battery?—a "I can't believe it's not Socialism!" jobs program?—other? Oh well, back to grazing from this Nutrient Source Container (a bowl with a lot of lentils, a roma tomato that got the worst of the encounter, some olive oil, etc).

How solarpunk has affected me so far
Welcome to Futurism! I thought it would be nice to start Futurism, my solarpunk-themed gemlog, with a few thoughts about how the ideology of solarpunk has influenced my life and my thinking so far.

so just a quick update
I had entirely forgotten why online games are so great honestly. this is what AAA developers don't get. just give us some guns so we can run around and shoot each other; then, more importantly, a chat where all the actual fun happens. anyway yeah, where have the last 2 hours gone.

Naming the gemini reader
I want this project to have a name. It helps me keep track of it in my head. Keeping with the gemini protocol tradition of naming stuff after Gemini mission things or space things, I'd like it to be related to the Gemini missions. Something about the launch vehicle (because it gets you to Gemini) or command/control of the spacecraft.

More AuraGem Search Updates: Detection of Duplicates and Mirrors
AuraGem search is now able to detect duplicate documents across all of the supported smallnet protocols (scroll, gemini, nex, and spartan). The search engine has already been storing hashes of documents from the very beginning, since 2021, so detecting duplicates is as simple as comparing hashes.

It's nice to be noticed
Just today I stumbled upon a post on tfurrows' zaibatsu phlog[1] which was entirely about me being back on the gopher.
We don't do our phlogs for them audiences, if we did, we would be on TikTok doing viral videos, but it is really nice to be noticed!

Mental Gymnastics: Hacking Up Simple Gemini Games
Surprize! 'Simple' things turn out to be much more complicated than they should be.
This is my second go around: first time was spellbinding, which I implemented it as a specialized CGI program with a bunch of adjacent programs and scripts. While that worked, it required keeping track of a lot of details, scripts and cron jobs, and is so specialized that it's entirely useless for anything else.
So this time around I was going to be smart. I separated the game logic, the CGI script, from the database that stores the game state. Ideally the database should know nothing about the game itself it just serves data for each session.

AuraGem Search Crawls Spartan, Profectus Beta 1.2.1, AuraGem Server Update
AuraGem Search now crawls the spartan protocol. An interface to search just spartanspace will be added later.

Eyeing awk
I use Linux on my home computers as well as at my job. I've learned how to use a lot of tools along the way, but there are many tricks and programs that I still don't know much about. One of those programs is awk.
Most of my computing activities take place in the terminal, and as such, I work with text almost all the time. When I write scripts, the bulk of the commands simply print, parse, perform actions on, and prettify text. I first learned how to work with text in Linux using grep and sed, and to this day, those are the tools I reach for first when I need to process textual data.

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
