Overwhelmed
It's becoming painfully apparent that I get overwhelmed by lots of random and semi-random commotion. Like when I'm upstairs and my mom is dealing with the dog, or when I'm upstairs and my grandma is watching TV (she has to have it very loud because she's so hard of hearing, even with hearing aids), or when my mom gets home with groceries. In all of these cases, it's a lot of background noise mixed with lots of distractions and short bursts of stimuli.

First break in the year
Being a bit exhausted, I've decided to not post anything for the rest of the month. I definitely will return with some interesting materials on March 3 because, as I said, the spring is coming. For now, I need to survive and recover. Hope y'all understand. See you soon!

The Man Who Would Be King
On the plus side, it's a fairly short story (~17,000 words) by Rudyard Kipling that lies outside the clutches of rent-seeking copyrights. Negatives might include the reasons why a George Orwell called Kipling a "jingo imperialist", though this work does deal with the sordid underbelly of an empire and the hijinks of a pair of, uh, entrepreneurs who these days might fit neatly into the 'gig economy' caste.

Running scripts on host from container
I often try to create the same pattern: a system where components are containerized, and can communicate through message queues, pipes, sockets, or other means, minimizing the requirements installed on the host machine. However, every time I reach a certain point of complexity, I need some component(s) to run on the host to simplify the architecture. What I never tried before, and now, after doing it, seems trivial and obvious, is to pipe commands to the host whenever I need something that is not available to the containers. This seems to break the pattern of isolated containers that treat each other as individual machines, but it avoids the need for container-in-container or running scripts straight on the host.

Current state of the internet
I have been studying a lot about decentralized networks. It started with IPFS, moved on to other protocols and libraries. [1] I especially liked the summary done by secushare [2] about the current state of the Internet, why it is bad, how to improve, comparison of modern tools, etc. Their website is very well built and has a compreensive and updated, within reason, view of the whole topic.

New Documentation for SIS
I have been working on creating better documentation for my Smallnet Information Services (SIS) Project. There is still a lot of work to do, but I'm getting close to being able to release something more officially.
