One of the Most Hilarious Things About the Microsoft SLAPPs
Just over a year ago I noticed that the Microsofters were very concerned about the popularity of this site. They made that very clear in documents they had deposited at the court. We cannot share such documents until all the cases are closed, but we can refer to bits of them vaguely.
The logic goes something along the lines of, many people read and trust Techrights. Hence, feelings are hurt.
It's not about whether or not there's a falsehood; the information is not false. It's about feelings. As in, people who get criticised worry about what people might think of them. They then assert that I somehow owe them money for their hurt feelings.
They don't try to publicly dispute or debunk what we show. They run to dockets. They issue threats. They harass me and my wife [1, 2].
It's so ridiculous that people who assault women think they're entitled to compensation. What kind of lesson or message does that send out? To be clear, judges don't play along, but the very desire to receive $350,000 in compensation or a rewards for strangling women (whilst on Microsoft's payroll) is flabbergasting.
If things go as planned, all they will see is $350,000 (or a lot more) in bills, that is all. The point isn't to publicly humiliate them, but rather to explain what happened and who facilitated it.
We're only getting started. There's plenty more to come. █
