The Register in Trouble
Professional Microsoft stenographers now manage the tech site
The Register is by far Britain's biggest tech-centric publisher (site) and it's also one of the biggest in the world as measured by article views. It was created almost 30 years ago and its own founder left [1, 2], protesting that the site had lost its integrity. A few years later the site sold out to Microsoft.
Now it seems to be happening again, as the site enters the B2B fold, falls deep into debt, and hires a Microsofter to act as an Editor in Chief.
We predict that the site will become more hostile towards Free software. When it does cover Free software, it'll promote the Microsoft narrative, as it did a couple of days ago [1, 2].
There is not much that can be done at this point. It seems "too late" already. █
