Despite Its Severe Financial Problems Gnome Foundation Inc Paid Rosanna Yuen Over 100,000 Dollars Last Year

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Sep 06, 2025

Good use of money? Living in San Francisco Bay Area isn't cheap, maybe relocation should be considered.

Upon efforts to investigate what really happened in Gnome Foundation last month (it wasn't pretty, they tried to make it not ugly, either) I was confronted and conflicted by this:

Gnome Foundation Inc

A lot of the actual workers (developers) are volunteers, i.e. unpaid coders. For comparison's sake, Zoe Kooyman (Executive Director at the FSF) gets paid a lot less. John Hsieh (Deputy Director) got $58,587 a year. Anouk Rozestraten (same position later on) left.

Seems like someone is being overpaid (about $105k per annum) to run a cash-strapped Gnome Foundation, which fired women not too long ago (but not men).

We saw similar misuse of money at the Linux Foundation and above all at Mozilla, where Baker pocketed or hoarded half a million dollars per month while Firefox was collapsing (under her watch). How does anyone her age even plan to ever spend that much money?
