statCounter Has Been Broken for a Long Time
3 weeks ago: The statCounter Site Has Data Integrity Problems
For quite some time now statCounter has been broken. Nothing works. Nothing shows up. No matter which Web browser is used (we've tried several very different browsers). Maybe it is a technical problem, maybe it's due to something else.
We are gratified that we downloaded and shared a lot of statCounter data (some of it plotted using LibreOffice), as well as taken screenshots of many things.
If statCounter comes back, it may still have issues with its data (see the above post). Considering the huge proportion of Web requests that come from LLM bots (more so this past year or two), statCounter may struggle to justify the operating costs. Those include not just hosting bills (servers) and processing bills; there's also human labour required (to keep things going, to keep all this stuff running; it needs maintenance all week long and all night long). █
