"Big Data" Was a Big Lie
Remember "Big Data"? Remember "Data Scientists"...?
Well, OK, so... the thing about that stuff is... right, you see? We had that sort of rebranded as "AI". For a while people spoke of "blockchains" and all sorts of other complicated-sounding things (like 'crypto'-coins, which are allegedly way too cryptic for anyone to understand and thus question).
Buzzwords come and go all the time. We've been through "IoT", "BYOD", "metaverse", "4IR" and all sorts of other catchy malarkey.
What does "Big Data" even mean? What did that ever mean? Take a moment to think about it.
Were large data sets or databases not available before the 1980s? When did "Big Data" suddenly 'start', except as a catchphrase?
We should consider the possibility that "AI" is overshadowed by those very same questions, which are perfectly legitimate but superficially postponed/deferred.
Enough with the buzzwords, the fake (or weakly justified/manufactured) job titles, and the media hype, which is evidently paid for, not "organic". █
