Bonum Certa Men Certa

The Bogus Narrative Floated by EPO Management: Our Judges and Examiners Are Armed and Violent

EPO management compares dissidents among staff to Jihadists and Nazis (a neo-Conservative scapegoat)

A militant EPO

Summary: A look at the union-busting and protest-crushing moves from high-level EPO managers, who are trying to convince politicians that they do so in an effort to stop terrorists and neo-Nazis

THE EPO's vicious management is ruthlessly cracking down on its asset, or its highly-skilled staff. This is a suicidal move. The management has already attempted -- in vain -- to crush demonstrations, allegedly for ‘security reasons’ because of VP4 (Željko Topić).

“Nobody is supposed to even comment on the absence of colleagues? It's surreal and somewhat spooky - are they now non-people by decree of the EPO?”
      --Anonymous
The EPO is now coordinating smear campaigns with various media outlets [1, 2, 3], finding (or digging for) evidence against a person after s/he was suspended for criticising Željko Topić (for his spotty past). As one commenter put it today: "In the land of democracy and transparency, VP4 has just banned SUEPO in The Hague from holding a meeting of members on office property because he didn't approve of the agenda - the union and members are not allowed to discuss their own representatives! Not that he's being a censor... As a result the union has booked a building a few minutes walk away.

"Frankly ridiculous that the power mad top mgt think that they are seriously able to prevent a union from discussing internally the suspension of elected reps. Can he be serious that he expects it to be some elephant in the room?? Nobody is supposed to even comment on the absence of colleagues? It's surreal and somewhat spooky - are they now non-people by decree of the EPO? I'm outraged but sadly not surprised."

“I have yet to see any proof that any of those "violent" actions had anything to do with the staff of the EPO.”
      --Anonymous
Days ago we mentioned the management's utterly shameful attempts to attribute violence to staff, even though there has been not a single incident of violence. As another commenter put it, "another reason VP4 (who is NOT the site manager, which is VP1 for The Hague), are "the experience of violent demonstrations organised in The Hague in the recent past".

"I have yet to see any proof that any of those "violent" actions had anything to do with the staff of the EPO.

"The only "violent demonstrations in The Hague in the recent past" I know of, are the demonstrations in the Schilderswijk, which were political demonstrations, and had nothing to do with the EPO....

"We are disturbed to still find accusations of violence where no violence exists, let alone threats thereof.""But yeah, sen from Munich, even a demonstration in Groningen because of the earthquakes there, are a considerable security risk for the EPO site in The Hague."

Tomorrow, at The Hague, a General Assembly was planned at 11:30 on EPO premises. "It has been turned down by VP4 [Željko Topić] on Friday evening," some workers have been told. Yet another crackdown from the man whom many internally refer to as "Putin".

We are disturbed to still find accusations of violence where no violence exists, let alone threats thereof. This is a terrible media strategy which was explained in the following message earlier today:

This informal message is written to my best knowledge a after gathering feedbacks and information from available sources.

here is quick update since the last suspensions:

- As a starter, please read the snappy opinion in the Frankfurter Rundschau and Juve that makes further comments on the suspension of 3 Union Executives. Otherwise, please refer to IPKat, FOSS Patents and Techrights (banned in the EPO - check google cache) for their (almost) daily coverage of the situation...

"To substantiate his point, the president cited an article by "Les Echos"..."- An interesting exchange of letters took place between the deputy Pierre-Yves Le Borgn' and President Battistelli (after the letter to Macron) here a Google translation. In this letter, Mr Battistelli justifies his actions against the DG3 colleague by the fact that the latter is an "IT specialist" who stocked en grand style "illegal weapons and Nazi propaganda" in his office (sic!). Further, reforms are justified and all is going fine in the EPO (there are further interesting allegations in the letter from the president, which surely the Staff representation organs will comment soon).

The “plot” of the “treason” of some kind of crazy “computer freak” reminds of a cheap John Le Carré, where we find the old theme of hidden enemies, who as everybody knows, jeopardize our good society, which would run harmoniously otherwise. In addition, this traitor would be a "Nazi"...

"Ten days after the bloody events in Paris such an amalgam is unambiguous: the union in the office operates as terrorists, hence management action on is an absolute necessity to protect our organization and its employees from this danger... by all means."- To substantiate his point, the president cited an article by "Les Echos" [business partner of the EPO] in the trade unions be treated as "de l'intérieurs Ennemis". This expression is used in France for some years (google it yourself and you’ll see), to describe the jihadists danger. Ten days after the bloody events in Paris such an amalgam is unambiguous: the union in the office operates as terrorists, hence management action on is an absolute necessity to protect our organization and its employees from this danger... by all means.

- As a spicy „detail", on the same day the Enlarged Board announced its decision regarding the above allegations against the dangerous DG3 colleague (here read on IPKat – Decision 23 1/15). Put in simple terms it seems to indicate that the evidences and the allegations are considered inadmissible. It also puts the present administration and the AC in poor light for their handling of the case. In any case, this decision was known to the president at the me where he writes the above allegations in his letter and disseminates them to the media. We are all curious to see whether the Administrative Council will continue to support in three weeks the suspension.

Two important points here:

  1. Les Échos is not a legitimate source for information about EPO, for reasons we covered in [1, 2, 3].
  2. Techrights might soon become a lot more accessible, even from inside the EPO, owing to mirrors and a GitHub repository of articles. We very much doubt the EPO is eager to censor GitHub, which is essential for technical patent examiners. Unless of course it wishes to emulate China with its 'Great Canon"...

In our next article we are going to drop another shocker and there is a lot more to come later this week. Please, dear readers, keep us informed so that we can inform many others. Temporary convenience for financial security is passive complicity with an unjust system that will ultimately fail everyone.

"Too many poets delude themselves by thinking that the mind is dangerous and must be left out. Well, the mind is dangerous and must be left in."
