Summary: Technological 'progress' that's regressive and harmful to human rights is seeing a push-back from people whom the corporate/mainstream media would have you believe are enthusiastic supporters of, and who are moreover responsible for it (rather than sociopathic corporations and politicians/businesspeople, always hungry for power, uncaring and apathetic towards people's needs)
THE first part of an article on "Digital Rights in 2021" was published earlier today. There's lots more on the way.
It wouldn't be controversial to say that some of the loudest opponents of electronic voting machines are techies; the same is true for resistance to just about any technology being misplaced in the name of fake 'progress'. Why? Because the techies understand the issues a lot better. They know the dangers and the harms (the latter being not just a potential but a
condition). These people are
not Luddites.
"Typically we focus on Software Freedom and patents (which impact programmers); the "Digital Rights" series goes above and beyond that."This series about "Digital Rights in 2021" will itemise and deal with some of the creeping threats observed this past year. We recently finished a series about what had happened to cars in recent years. That's just one aspect among so many.
Typically we focus on Software Freedom and patents (which impact programmers); the "Digital Rights" series goes above and beyond that. We hope it will encourage people to think carefully about what goes on around them, especially in this increasingly-dystopian society where human rights are put on the backburner due to a health crisis/emergency. ⬆
