Links 09/05/2023: Gemini’s Killer App

    • Personal

      • Football Club Barcelona

I remember watching a program that came on every Sunday, it was about the week's happenings in the Soccer world. I used to love watching the interview with players with short clips of their skills on the pitch. This is where I met Ronaldinho, one of the most magical football players in soccer history. He is the reason why I started supporting Barcelona.

        [...]

This brings us to present day. Josep Bartomeu has been fired a few years ago, Laporta is now the Club's President, for the second time, and things are looking better.

      • Formula Won?

Anyway, I was hoping this race would result in a podium that had some underdogs there, but I was being naive. Verstappen walked through the grid to end in first, Perez second and Alonso third. Just crazy how bad everyone is and how good Verstappen is. He is obviously a great driver, but I can't help but think that he has an absolutely insane car as well. We have seen the opposite happen many times, drivers switch teams to new cars then absolutely "suck".

      • Here's a bit of insanity for ya

The house got cold overnight, and I've no idea whether today's expected high temperature will bring the indoors back to a jacket-less state.

        The coffee just finished brewing.

I'm laying back on the couch, hoping for replies/comments, but finding none.

        [...]

However, there's something that's not really a something (things being at world level) what I want to call "behind the beneath" that doesn't partake of any of this re-presentational (by way of seeming conceptuality) realm - despite being its basis (but only when thought about, of course..).

    • Technical

      • Miraculous, indeed!

and suddenly typing on the keyboard leads to changes on the screen that quite possibly might be saved to a so-called file.

      • Internet/Gemini

        • Gemini's Killer App

Over the last 6 months I've spent a decent amount of time reading gem logs and exploring capsules. I've seen many different topics appear on Antenna, including the regular rounds of "Gemini Sucks" or "Gemini is Crap without XYZ". Most of the time it's down to some technical thing. They seem to always miss the obvious. Gemini's killer app isn't an "app" or a "feature". It's "words".

Plain old fashioned text. Text written by people. Many of us are technical people and it's easy to fall into trap of "bells and whistles". Especially if you're a web applications programmer like I am. We get so distracted about what we did in the http/web universe that we forget that we have everything we need right in front of us.

        • Re: Gemini's Killer App

My wife got super mad at me last night for putting cold hands on her in bed. Angry enough to jump out of bed, yell at me, and then go to sleep in another room. I was drunk and being playful. It hurt a lot. I guess I should have known better, and yet she's not been super receptive to physical interaction as of late, and I was honestly hoping to turning the crank in that direction.

So now she's gone back to our main bedroom after apparently seeing I was no longer in it. So almost always sleeps longer than I, hence having time to bang this out without being disrupted by what I suddenly want to call "the reconciliation dance".
