A "Sunset Period" at Microsoft
THE "Sunset Period" (of Microsoft et al) is upon us and bailouts won't last long because they devalue the currency and destroy the real economy (not Wall Street). Decades of Microsoft tax evasion and accounting fraud make office closures not just inevitable but well overdue. GitHub should be expected to shut down or start charging a lot of money some time soon. GitLab is a cautionary tale. Buying GitHub was a direct attack on Free software, but at what cost can Microsoft bear GitHub?
The mainstream (corporate) media won't entertain such "views" facts, but Windows' dominance is waning, Windows is becoming hard to maintain (mass layoffs mean staff deficits and a skill/experience crisis), and over time we see more organisations, corporations, governments and people drifting further away from Microsoft. Many dabble in Free software and some adopt GNU/Linux on the client side too.
One day we'll look back at these years when Microsoft boasted about being "worth" trillions when it fact it barely made any profits (sometimes losses) but kept lying about it. Why is this tolerated? It's not only illegal; it is collectively destructive.
We eagerly look forward to the day GNU/Linux is the "default" platform for laptops and desktops, just like in servers. Everything is imperfect, but things are improving. █
