EPO Union Action: Next Week SUEPO The Hague and SUEPO Munich Talk About New Pension Scheme (NPS) and Salary Savings Plan (SSP)

New Pension Scheme (NPS) and Salary Savings Plan (SSP) - Intervention on 2018 contribution rate changes

THE EPO's staff union, SUEPO, is tackling a Benoît Battistelli era "reform" which persists unabated under António Campinos, i.e. the usual.

Of course Campinos went even further with a fake (kangaroo) patent court and software patents being illegally granted, but that won't be the subject of next week's presentation (part of a workshop)). To quote communications to staff:

New Pension Scheme (NPS) and Salary Savings Plan (SSP) - Intervention on 2018 contribution rate changes

Dear SUEPO members, dear colleagues,

Last year the Office issued its final negative decision on two very relevant appeal cases concerning the contribution rates to the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and Salary Savings Plan (SSP). The Appeals opinions were unanimously positive in favour of staff. However, the Administration decided to disregard the ApC opinions rejecting the claims of the Appellants entirely. The first of these two cases concerning the contribution rates applied in 2018 is of paramount importance as it is the first time the impact of the new career system was accounted for in the calculation of the contribution rates.

Many of you, with the support of SUEPO, filed a complaint to the ILOAT. Now, considering the importance of what is at stake, SUEPO is preparing all the necessary documentation to enable all the NPS members recruited before Jan 2018 to intervene. According to the rules of the Tribunal, the intervention procedure enables the intervener, without filing a complaint, to benefit from the Tribunal's decision if it is favourable to the complainant.

SUEPO will send the required documentation only to the members that actively express interest in filing the request to intervene. If interested, please contact SUEPO at the following address: interventionNPS2018@suepo.org, indicating your interest, date of recruitment, place of employment, and confirming your SUEPO membership. If you are not a SUEPO member please consider joining your local union section (see how to become a member of SUEPO TH and SUEPO MU). The application to intervene must be filed by the 19 July 2024.

Additionally, SUEPO is inviting you to an online workshop where the NPS-SSP framework and the request to intervene will be explained in more detail. A calendar event is available here. We hope to see you there, and please encourage your NPS colleagues, irrespective of whether they are SUEPO members, to attend.

Workshop title: New Pension Scheme (NPS) and Salary Savings Plan (SSP) – Information session and legal status
Date: Monday 24.06.2024
Time: 11:00 – 12:00

[...]

PS: SUEPO legal cases are prepared by lawyers specialized in international labour law, and the associated costs are covered by the yearly contributions of union members. A warm thank you to our faithful members!

So there are basically 32 days left for more people to intervene. The workshop has sadly been outsourced, as usual, to the same company that's spying for Campino (yes, Microsoft) after a likely illegal contract. Criminal organisations are not reluctant to partner with criminal companies and won't hesitate to ignore/break the law; they would protect one another from "pesky" regulators.
