Ecuador earned notoriety in the digital realm for its handing of Ola Bini and initially much fame/fanfare for how it had rescued Wikileaks founder Julian Assange (before the CIA captured the new Ecuadorian leadership and kicked him out). Assange is now a "free man", albeit deep in new debt, and meanwhile we've been seeing growing levels of GNU/Linux adoption there, based on statCounter:
