US Surgeon General's Advice on Social Control Media (and "Smart" Phones) Seems Reasonable
People forget what the real world is about
Social Control Media isn't about to be banned (EFF does not seem to understand this), but health recommendations have already been inadvertently issued, at least in the media.
Social Control Media is generally a bad thing for democracy, for society, for science etc. Social Control Media isn't just bad for health or for children's health. Social Control Media is bad for adults too. We've said this many times in relation to TikTok.
If many people quit Social Control Media in pursuit of better mental and physical health, that will be a wonderful thing.
Based on what we saw yesterday, Trevor Paglen seems to have abandoned Musk's X ("Twitter") this past winter, perhaps recognising it was a waste of his time. Considering his latest CCC talk, he should know better.
Time is better spent outside than in some "social" (not) "media" (not) game; addiction by gamification is bad enough on its own, even more so when there is disinformation involved, programming people's minds without education in mind. █
