VVO Line of Sight Working
I guess my expectations were a bit skewed by how long it took me to get movement working thanks to all the scaffolding and client/server communication I had to set up, but I wasn't expecting it to be so easy to get LOS (line of sight) working. It helps that I implemented it entirely on the client side, so there was no pesky client/server interaction to deal with. Just a simple raycasting algorithm using Bresenham, displaying some shading over tiles that are "previously explored but not currently visible," and we're good to go:

[Late night realization that for the past few years...]
Late night realization that for the past few years I've been in observer mode. Right now I feel like life has two modes: observer and doer. In observer mode one is taking in what is happening around them, watching others go to work, take care of their children, talk to their neighbors etc. [realizes I'm basically describing an NPC, but we're just gonna go with it...]

combat in my mud
I’ve been spending a lot of time playing with Evennia lately. The more I mess with it, the more I like it. Of course, I also find the more I do with it, the more of the stuff I’ve done already that could have been done more easily with other elements that already exist.
I also haven’t been sticking very well to designing what I want it to do first.
Turn based combat was one of the first things I created. Building off the Evennia tutorial content, I made a turn-based combat handling script that gets attached to the current room and executes a basic attack. It loops over participants, notifies them of their turn, and waits for input. Of course, it doesn’t really wait for input, it’s a finite state machine that checks any inputs every X seconds. The x being configurable (configurable is pretty loose, there’s a parameter, but it’s in the python code…)

looking for web 1.0 community
Hi all. I'm looking for communities or sites dedicated to web design of the 90s, website building of those times.
The search engine returns only a few hardware forums.
Internet communities dedicated to 90s web nostalgia websites, groups on social networks, possibly forums, telegram channels, anything on this topic.
