The "IT Industry" is Full of Imposters (It's a Growing Crisis)
They often manage the companies (which they rob)
TOMORROW morning we shall publish "Imposters Inheriting Institutions" - a subject that relates to lawsuits we filed last Friday and a mini-series we started a day ago and continued today. As a former academic myself, I am deeply disturbed by what's happening to the field of Computer Science. Other people I speak to (with Computer Science background, that includes my wife and some Techrights associates) are equally disturbed. I spoke about this in IRC yesterday, as Sompi (a young Finn) complains about what they teach the current generation of Computer Science students.
Should we be surprised that the field gets infiltrated by imposters, who proceed to attacking actual Computer Scientists if their credentials are questioned/scrutinised? They try to pretend this is about "social justice", but actually these are just ad hominem attacks on people who actually possess Computer Science knowledge and actual degrees. Many of them started large projects and have an extensive track record.
We've decided to put a stop and hopefully put an end to attacks by imposters. One of them attacked too many Computer Scientists, usually because they had accomplished a lot. This time he went too far. And unlike before, this time he'll pay the price for harassment, defamation, stalking, doxing etc. No more risk-free abuse for him. Or as my wife put it, do not do evil things or create evil deeds or it'll all come back to you. That's indeed what's happening right now.
Responding to a statement that I made last Friday, one reader said: "These sentences could be made more clear in that you and Rianne are defending yourselves and others who work hard..." (Computer Scientists)
The reader referred to the sentence which said: "The net effect - if not a deliberate aim here - is to devastate the people left who work hard, pro bono, to expose and challenge corporate corruption and crimes. Put another way, it is to help the rich and corrupt by abusing those whom they dislike or fear."
The reader put it another way: "That you are standing up to other people -- and they are the ones who are helping the rich and the corrupt through abuse."
I know imposters from my decade plus at universities and almost 12 years at Sirius Open Source. These people are extremely unpleasant to deal with (they become combative when their unqualified stance gets challenged) and we'll write more about this tomorrow. Some time soon Andy might have a very long article on this important topic. █
