Anniversaries Coming Up

Probably the funnest year of our lives, and definitely the most productive

THE SITE was upgraded and migrated towards the end of September last year. We deployed a system we had developed since summer of 2022 (already tested on a sister site for more than a year) and the system is still being improved based on our needs. We make software tools that make us more productive and a few months ago we published 62 "articles" in one day - an all-time record.

As programmers and system administrators we can cope. Writing about the technical stuff is a "lesser" activity because first and foremost we need a robust platform, resilient to censorship attempts, and protective of whistleblowers (we never burned any sources). To protect ourselves from censorship we recently needed to file lawsuits [1, 2] for the first and hopefully the last time (we might even need to pursue restraining orders as a matter of priority). Two months from now the site turns 18. It'll turn 20 in 2026 - the year that I turn 45 (in December)...

In 6 days from now we celebrate our marriage anniversary. There are some "marriage deniers" out there trying to spoil that. They even send abusive E-mails to my wife and create accounts called "Divorce".

Running the site has been a calm experience this past year because we asserted control of our IRC network, which had been abused a lot in 2022 and in 2023. We didn't need a CoC to deal with the abuse because some of the abuse was so bad that it was reported to the police many times (as recently as July, i.e. 1.5 months ago).

Maybe it's a badge of honour; the only way to stop us now is to commit crimes against us. What a dumb strategy! As we said in July, "Whoever in GNOME Decided to Attack the G (GNU), It Was a Foolish Miscalculation"; similarly, whoever decided to attack my wife and my mother (who might have cancer) in the name of "social justice" is a fool. It was doomed to fail. It'll backfire so badly.
