IBM - Like Microsoft - Lies About the Number of People It's Laying Off (Several Tens of Thousands, Not Counting R.T.O. "Silent" Layoffs and Contractors/Perma-Temps)
This new thread (opened since around noon CET) links to a list last updated 17 hours ago (the original was updated 4 hours ago) and correctly points out that going by "official" statements from IBM is misguided.
How many waves of silent layoffs have we seen so far at IBM this year? Some GAFAM people told me this week about the impact of R.T.O., moaning that loads of people plan to leave. Some of them never ever worked in "the office", so "return" to office is basically a misnomer too.
This is an ongoing failure of the mainstream media (the above is a Microsoft site relaying other people's work), which gaslights the public and lowballs/downplays the figures. █
