Dangers - Grizzy Bear
This is the next part of the chapter 'Dangers', continuing on from the discussions between Lantashi and Lee. This scene is called 'Grizzly Bear'. This is the start of where things will get very exciting for two the friends going forward in the story!

Fixed points in arguments
By coincidence, this is broadly in my policy area of UK housing.
What he's identified here is a tactic of maintaining a particular assertion at all costs. The costs in particular include credibility with outsiders. And this assertion is being maintained rhetorically to avoid undermining some ulterior proposition. Per his example, the actual position being defended is a sacred value that is two or three logical steps away from the "fixed point" argument. It's a sort of rhetorical "Defence In Depth".
So the point of repeating the lie is to avoid exposing a different lie that would be more painful to abjure. Implicitly, in-group cohesion is more important than credibility and fidelity to truth.

More translations
On the horizon of torrents, the English GOG version of the first part of "Space Rangers" (v1.7.2) appeared. It was immediately boarded and gutted.

[01] after 2 years... hello smol.pub!!
it's funny how i've had an account here for a good 2 or so years already, but only decided that now's the time to actually do something on it. well... these things are better late than never, i guess!
who i am in specific isn't so important. maybe one day i'll dedicate a blog to properly introduce myself—but you have to understand that introductions, in general, are a bit hard for me! i'm a 20-something year old person from the philippines. on the younger side, maybe? just in time to be barely within the target demographic for algorithm-driven "brainrot" platforms, for sure haha.
that said, identity is so hard for me to pin down. i was barely given the privilege to form one of my own when i was younger, so i'm in the process to try and figure out the things i like and don't like. if you make any references to any widely popular media around me, please understand that i'll sometimes give a polite laugh and go "haha, i haven't seen that yet. sorry! please tell me more!" i guess which is one of the reasons why i'm here now.

Prime Beats
Music generally repeats itself, though something in 4/4 time (like nearly all pop music) repeats with more regularity than anything that uses prime numbers of any notable size. The following (which stops mercifully short of the full least common multiple) plays 3 against 5, 7, 11, and 13, with pitches picked somewhat at random resulting in a 5-20 pitch set or here D Eb A Bb G.

smol.pub
I have no real idea what to do with this space, but I do love the ideas behind smol.pub, so here we are. This space is currently so small there is a feed of every single person's posts. Twitter was like this at the very start, when it was still called Twttr and no one really knew it existed. I would post via SMS. This feels less archaic in some ways, more archaic in others. I like the idea of posting small thoughts into the void: no likes, no replies. Just posts and links, like God intended.

i got mail
today I wrote myself an email that contained some files I needed
back in the day, before google drive and cloud storage, the way my sister taught me to put a file up on the internet so i could access it from different places and devices was to attach it to an email and send it to myself
i am no expert but i am sure this is not the oldest tactic that achieves this particular utility, and it is demonstrably not the youngest
