CALEA / CALEA2 is the Real Problem, Not Chinese Operatives Exploiting CALEA / CALEA2 (as Any Other Nation Can)

The Microsoft-sponsored Federal [sic] News [sic] Network has this new article entitled "Salt Typhoon hackers compromise a states Army National Guard network".

Their articles about security always tend to be shallow, sometimes very wrong. "Apropos what I wrote about Salt Typhoon the other day," an associate notes. "The headline is wrong, the CCP did not compromise the network. CALEA / CALEA2 [1, 2, 3] did that for them, they are just riding on its coattails."

We wrote about this at least 3 times in IRC this week. It's not just Federal [sic] News [sic] Network spreading this false narrative, which misplaces blame.

If you leave your shop's door open all night long, then expect intruders. Maybe not every hour of the night; but even once it too much.

CALEA / CALEA2 is more of a front door than a back door. █
