Trying to Silence Techrights Was a Huge Mistake
Peter Thiel attacked a publisher for asserting, correctly, that he was gay. Now everyone knows it.
Days ago: Admission That a Third Party (or Parties) Funds the SLAPPs Against Techrights
Almost 2 years ago we began receiving threats. My wife was first to receive those threats from Garrett [1, 2], who later adopted a Serial Strangler from Microsoft as a litigation partner and gets paid by a third party (other than the Serial Strangler from Microsoft, i.e. Microsoft money). He kept trying to intimidate and blackmail us. It never worked.
Ever since then (2 years later) Techrights is flourishing. In the past few days we serve an average of over half a million requests per day (640,140 yesterday), we get a lot of respect online, and more people get in touch with us (giving up pointers and words of encouragement).
The Streisand Effect is not about Mrs. Streisand per se. It's just a term that was widely adopted to discuss or explain the effect of trying hard to silence embarrassing facts.
It's not that we welcome SLAPPs from Microsofters who are funded by a third party (like Hogan); it's just that we fail to understand what they hope to accomplish except make embarrassing facts even more widely and readily accessible. █
