Don't Settle for Slop

Back when Rianne and I were still teenagers this artist who performs here right now (Robyn, admission 8 minutes ago) had some chart hits and so did boy bands and girl bands. They have producers and studios, not slop, and there were musical instruments available (a wide range of virtuosos). Music has become objectively worse (cheaper) since then. Art has moved in the same direction as junk food aka "fast food" (such as burgers and chips/fries), as did journalism, which seems to have devolved into parroting lies from GAFAM or IBM, including the cheaply-made "[CEO] says" or "[Rich Person] thinks" pieces (something so bad that it is sometimes just referencing some "tweet" or sound byte).
If it's all about speed ("fast"), then it'll be junk every time.
Robyn's musical melodies were not complicated/complex, except relative to today's utterly bad music. This year I listen to many CDs, which I bought cheaply in bulk (people lack players to use them, so they offload large collections). Being CDs, they're obviously not recent music. Their average quality (of pertinent tracks) is high because they didn't target "YouTube" or "iTune" and their vehicle of distribution - sans singles - was reputable albums with tracks which took years to prepare and perfect. To go "viral" they relied on mass broadcast, but to make money they needed to sell albums (or be dumped by the "labels"). Concerts were their biggest cash cows (to the artists, their share of the revenue was a lot higher).
Concerts for slop? Forget about it!
Slop is a bit of a symptom of where society is told to go. Oligarchs know they can increase their profit margins by peddling low-quality crap, including some made by plagiarism blenders (to cut off performers and never compensate anybody). █
