Overshoot Day Sites That Contribute to the Problem
For those not (yet) familiar with the concept of Earth Overshoot Day, read up on ecological footprint (EF). July isn't over yet, but "Humanity Has Already Used Up Earth's Natural Resources for 2026," according to a page that takes up a lot of resources:
There are many more scripts in that source. It goes on and on with unnecessary bloat.
"Ironically," an associate explained, "most of the pages referring to overshoot day are blocked through abuse of gratuitous JavaScript thus burning far more electricity (and thus fossil carbon) than a normal page."
Some of these are not even accessible (at all) without JavaScript.
In the above example <noscript> is used 20 times, but they also use WebP files, which means many older computers won't be able to render some of the pictures. █
