Summary: Some new numbers suggest that Windows keeps declining, so the trend is probably confirmed (an analyst says that Windows Phone 7 [1, 2] won't be out until next year, either)
●
Apple, Android Surge In Smartphones, Nip At Nokia
Apple's iPhone OS surged past Microsoft Windows Mobile to hold the third spot, selling nearly 25 million units to nearly double its market share. Research In Motion kept its second-place standing, adding three percentage points to its market share.
●
Windows Mobile decline both relative and absolute
It’s safe to say 2009 was not a great year for Windows Mobile. Not only did its smartphone market share slump significantly, but it was the only major operating system to appear on fewer handsets sold in 2009 than 2008.
