Summary: A popular Mono-free "dock" application for GNU/Linux faces attempts to put C# applets in it
THE following Mono alert is not news, but it came up earlier today in IRC.
Docky is
already a Mono intrusion vector, but it turns out that
Awn too is at risk because of Mono enthusiasts (an Awn developer in this case).
"MONO guys still spreading their poison in GNOME," claims Frodo, "guess you guys aren't awake yet..."
"Mono poison in GNOME [is] kinda not surprising any more," says
Oiaohm.

But based on who is advertising it on UF: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1478915 I would say it is 100% Mono. In case people do not know, the OP in linked thread is paid microsoft astroturfer, all he does is advertising Mono. Just look at his UF posts ang google his nick.

I did not managed to find information, and I do not feel like downloading source code now. :-)
But on a side note: It looks like astroturfers are very active on Ubuntu Forums, aside from this one is taking a break from advertising all Mono.

Gnome too is highly configurable so you don't have to keep looks you don't like. Gnome has good font rendering and many individual applications are excellent but the environment has been shown to be a little heavier than comparable KDE and alternate window managers. Microsoft's mono invasion of Gnome would be a lesser crime if Gnome was worthless.
