Summary: Whereas Nokia outlines a suicide plan, Motorola escapes the guaranteed destruction which is known as Windows (for mobile platforms)
As Windows Mobile and its successors fail in the market, Microsoft hijacked Nokia [1, 2, 3, 4] for its own selfish purposes, and possibly for more patent attacks against Android.
Motorola, a longtime Windows/Microsoft partner, was recently attacked by Microsoft in a patent lawsuit over Android. Shortly after the lawsuit Motorola spoke about plans to continue offering Windows alongside the Linux-powered offerings. Well, that has just changed.
Based on
this new article ("Motorola exec: Microsoft's Windows Phone was too little, too late"), Motorola has just dumped Windows altogether:
Motorola appears to have firmly shut the door on the possibility of using Windows Phone software.
"I don't envision us using Microsoft. I would never say never but it's not something we're entertaining now," said Christy Wyatt, corporate vice president of software and services product management for Motorola. She spoke to the press during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
"We're the only vendor who is 100 percent Android," she noted.
For Android devices that are
not taxed by Microsoft, consider buying from Acer, Sony-Ericsson, and Motorola (which
challenges Microsoft in court over Microsoft's attempt to tax Motorola's use of Linux). MeeGo is the better option (more open and versatile than Android), but since Nokia is besieged by Microsoft's Elop, there is still some uncertainty there. Some shareholders of Nokia are trying to get Elop sacked right now (and his foolish decisions reversed, obviously).

It's nice to see Microsoft getting what they deserve.
