EPO in 2021: Less About Europe, Less About Science, Less About Quality (or Compliance), and More About Weapons or Monopolies on Vaccines

Summary: The EPO inviting loads of software patents may lead to perceived 'growth', albeit only at the expense of -- or to the detriment of -- the patent applications or European Patents that are actually valid as per the EPC

THE EPO has managed to 'seed' lots of puff pieces, at least in English, earlier this month. We can imagine it's the same in German, French, and Spanish. Many publishers are like paid-for PR services rather than journalism.

"Don't fall for their expensive PR charades; they're hurting and they're bragging about the wrong things."Following last week's preliminary look at media spin (a slant of this kind), I've decided to make a quick video and explain why this is nonsense. I've added below the images shown in the video, including the annotation.

In an effort to fake performance and just grant lots of low-quality (and invalid/improper) patents the EPO's management relies on obedient media which neither studies the actual impact nor cares to explain what really goes on inside the EPO. Don't fall for their expensive PR charades; they're hurting and they're bragging about the wrong things.

Many of these are on software, which should be excluded

EPO Weapons

Increasing prices

Because quality of assessment fell

This says nothing about innovation

It's about money

EPO in CH: You cannot apply unless you are rich or a company

Because it's about wealth rather than science

UK impact

EPO also harms the EU

No, EPO is not EU

Ongoing trend at EPO

Asian patents

Not European

Throwing the same patent applications everywhere

Same patent applications they sent elsewhere

China and EPO: Many are not valid patents, but EPO grants them anyway and invites more of them

Low-quality and invalid patents welcome!
