GNU/Linux grows steadily at the expense of Windows

Summary: This month's data from statCounter (OpenDocument version with chart) gives reasons for optimism; based on what we're seeing this weekend, there are consequences for GNU/Linux usage surging in the world's most populous nations and Microsoft is panicking^* ____ ^* We don't want to send traffic to spam and would rather focus on the real issue (Microsoft layoffs coming Monday or later this week/month). Microsoft is probably deflecting already because the chief of Microsoft India has just quit (lots of media coverage about it throughout the weekend). We're seeing what's probably sponsored spam/chaff, trying to throw people off the scent (burying the real news). To be very clear, Microsoft is firing people in India (even entire teams), not hiring Indians. Microsoft needs a clever distraction as morale among staff sank (even executives) and hiring standards of Microsoft fell sharply [1, 2, 3]. "Microsoft is laying off droves while getting their wholly-owned press to write the opposite or at least imply the opposite," an associate noted. "Expect more "how to get hired by Microsoft" articles, as if that were an aspiration for any competent or honest hacker."
