Gemini version available ♊︎“GNU/Linux ALREADY Kicks Windows to the Curb”
“Ideally, use of the competing technology becomes associated with mental deficiency, as in, “he believes in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and OS/2.” Just keep rubbing it in, via the press, analysts, newsgroups, whatever. Make the complete failure of the competition’s technology part of the mythology of the computer industry. We want to place selection pressure on those companies and individuals that show a genetic weakness for competitors’ technologies, to make the industry increasingly resistant to such unhealthy strains, over time.”
–Microsoft, internal document [PDF]
THERE is a typical, coordinated campaign (or “Slog”) to demoralise those who think about or contribute to GNU/Linux. This is a good sign. It means that opponents of GNU/Linux are feeling pressured… pressured enough to put their integrity at stake and viciously attack GNU/Linux out in public.
The most important thing is never to feed them but instead to recite facts — real facts. GNU/Linux is entering the desktop and it already hurts Microsoft badly (its investors also), no matter how hard the company tries to deny this. █
“Forty percent of servers run Windows, 60 percent run Linux…”
–Steve Ballmer (September 2008)

@amd-linux:
Don’t worry, I check the queue regularly, socomments are never lost.
I disabled new comments on items older than 2009 so as to reduce clutter in the queue (I burned out after about 50,000 spam).

Your website doesn’t work with Linux. Background-Graphics and other graphical elements are in the wrong place. I’m using Firefox/Icecat.

@DOUGman , that was the first thing I noticed.
The first thing I do on a new install is remove mono and anthing that requires
it. Just wish the GNome developers would get with the game, “If invented by microsoft, bound to be cr*p, leave well alone”

binkie, it’s valid XHTML and CSS with the exception of the <video> tag which we need to accommodate Ogg Theora (what ought to have been in HTML5 if it were not for Apple and the patent lovers from Nokia).
