Gemini version available ♊︎Microsoft President Quits, But is Nokia the Next Victim?
Summary: Finland is calling Microsoft’s Elop, whom Ballmer intends to use to make Nokia more Windows-oriented (at the expense of Linux)
THIS is the type of major departure which helps show that everyone is fleeing Microsoft but at the same time shows that Microsoft only spreads its seeds in companies that otherwise explore Microsoft’s competition, notably Linux. Yes, Elop is leaving, but Microsoft’s CEO already says they “look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role at Nokia.”
What will happen to MeeGo? Has Nokia just been poisoned due to poor HR decisions? Recall the Elop scandal, it’s a truly mischievous one. Something similar happened some years ago in Vodafone. █

I don’t think a microsoftie would change the tides of Linux in Nokia. They own Trolltech and the QT libs/framework. Meego is under heavy development with Intel, Android is the one all are trying to catchup with. Winblow$ mobile $even is a fantasy. IMHO, or this Elop guy dances to the Linux music, or he can hit the road. And Nokia is lagging behind BlackBerry, iPhone and Android, so, there’s only one way to go. The MeeGO way.

Prior to Microsoft (not so long ago), Elop worked with free platforms.

But, it is somewhat puzzling, a solid company like Nokia, which needs an instant hit in their cellphone lineup, to hire a guy from a company that only blundered in Cellphones and gadgets alike.
