The managers (typically getting the job because of connections/kinship rather than experience/skills) took the liberty to break the law all they want; when staff revolts, protests, goes on strike and rebels they 'make an example' by rounding up representatives and even kidnapping judges
Summary: Working for the EPO means giving up on one's human rights; that's the sort of conclusion many workers have reached
